Shawn Oakes is a tenor and studied music at Sir Wilfrid Laurier University and Brock University. He spent five summers in Germany under the direction of Helmuth Rilling with the International Bach-Akadamie. He currently sings with two professional choirs. Arcady, which performs early music as well as the music of Canadian composer and director Ron Beckett. Shawn also sings with the newly formed Edison Singers. He also sings regularly with Boris Brott and the National Academy Orchestra as a choir member, section lead, and as a soloist. He has a church job at St. Andrews United in Brantford. He also enjoys playing recorder and trombone.
