Confident chorister: singing in tune
Pre-registration is required for this classes.
Target audience:
This workshop is for choral singers with prior singing experience who want to improve their intonation as an individual and in a group setting.
Description:
Learning to match pitch perfectly. Introduction of different tuning systems. Discussion of historical temperaments, including equal temperament, versus just intonation. Learning to sing in different tuning systems according to context.
Details:
During the workshop, you will learn what just intonation and temperaments mean. You will discover the implications of singing in different temperaments versus singing pure intervals (ie. the difference between singing a cappella and singing with piano and/or organ). You will hear samples of intervals played using different tuning systems. You will, of course, sing choral pieces and learn to sing them in tune.
