Beginner

Target audience:

This workshop is for anyone interested in the basic principles of conducting.

Description:

Develop a basic gestural vocabulary. Learn to conduct in simple meters. Understand the meaning of your conductor(s) gestures.

Details:

During the workshop, you will learn to conduct in two, three, and four beat patterns. You will learn how to get a group to start and finish together. This workshop will focus on the hand indicating the pulse. We will also discuss basic score study.

This workshop is for people with choral experience and a basic understanding on conducting gestures.

Description:

Expand your basic gestural vocabulary. Learn to conduct in compound meters. Learn to indicate fermatas.

Details:

During the workshop, you will learn to conduct in six, nine, and twelve beat patterns. You will learn how to get a group to start, hold a fermata, and to finish together. You will also learn how to indicate, articulations, and dynamics.

Target audience:

This workshop is for people with some conducting experience who want to expand their skills beyond keeping time.

Description:

Learn to use your left hand for basic management of the group and musical interpretation. Learn to conduct in odd meters. Learn to indicate tempo changes.

Details:

During the workshop, you will learn to conduct in five and seven. You will also learn how subdivide simple beats. You will learn how to use your left hand to indicate entries and dynamics. You will learn how to indicate tempo changes.
