We know little of Charles d’Ambleville. He was born on june 6, 1588 in the diocese of Évreux and passed away on July 6, 1637.

On September 29, he joined the novitiate with the Jesuit. In 1620 he was in charge of procurement for a convent in Rouen where he was also music teacher. From 1626 to 1629 he held the same positions in Jesuit college in Orléans.

Towards the end of his life he published three volumes of sacred music containing the works most useful in the Catholic liturgy.
