Cooking, last-minute shopping trying to find the right present, cleaning the house for the visit, set up the table, oh no! I forgot to bake the twelve different kinds of cookies everyone likes. Life at Christmas is hectic. Take a break!
Tired of the same old shopping mall Christmas background music? Take a break.
Take your family out and bring your friends to hear and sing some really glorious music.
Join Musikay on Sunday December 22 at 3:00 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, Hamilton for a concert of beautiful Renaissance Christmas music, and join in singing some favourite carols.
You have a unique chance to hear 8 wonderful voices singing the music of Bach with his dream-like version of In dulci jubilo (O Christian all rejoice). Alongside Johann Sebastian’s masterwork the group sings the poignant O Magnum Mysterium (O great mystery)by Victoria followed by his brilliant mass set to the same tune.
Interspersed within the mass are magnificent choral pieces by William Byrd(Hodie Christus, Puer natus), Praetorius (Es ist ein Roß entsprungen/Low how a rose)and some well-loved carols. To finish the program, let yourself be transported by two powerful double chorus pieces with the choir placed in an antiphonal setting.
Beyond performing inspiring music, Musikay is proud to partner with and raise funds and awareness for the CNIB foundation. At the concert, we will take a special collection to support this very worthwhile organization. We count on your generosity.
This is your last chance to enjoy some magical moments and share your gift before the craziness!
