We close our tenth anniversary on April 16 at 7:30 p.m. with a programme of great a cappella music. The concerts features the music of Josquin, Binchois, Bunois, Ockeghem, Dufay, and two members of the Potvin family.

From Josquin’s emotional De profundis, to Dufay’s lively chanson and Mass Se la face ay pale this program showcases the beautiful eight voices of Musikay. At the culmination of the concert, the group performs two new pieces.

Lux aeterna is offered as in remembrance of Maestro Potvin’s youngest son who past away ten years ago in April. The piece is a reflection of the hope a new baby brings to the world, and the sadness and despair caused by the loss of a new life.

In contrast, The swinging monkey is a lively and fun piece composed by the Potvin’s oldest son and arranged by his father especially for Musikay. The piece features a series of uplifting variations is scat style that is sure to close the concert with laughters and joy.

Join Musikay and Maestro Potvin for this special concert on April 16, 7:30 p.m. at St. John’s United Church, in Oakville. For those wanting to know more about the music, the group hosts a chat and tea at 6:30 p.m.
