Emma Rowlandson-O’Hara, trumpet
Emma Rowlandson-O’Hara hails from Salt Spring Island, BC. Nourished by wonderful teachers and ocean air, she went on to study music at McGill University, where she obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Trumpet Performance. Alongside her orchestral training, in Montreal she dove into free improvisation, chamber music, big band, and a cappella, and formed a brass quintet that continued to play together in Toronto. Emma has paraded with the band of the Ceremonial Guard in Ottawa, and is a member of the Band of the Queen’s Own Rifles of Canada. In addition to this, she is currently freelancing in Toronto and is a founding member of the Shaw Street Collective, in which she is also an active arranger and vocalist.
