Alex Artale, timpani
Alex Artale, a passionate timpanist and versatile percussionist, is an active freelance performer. He has worked with distinguished conductors and musicians such as Alain Trudel, Jean-Francois Rivest, Victor Feldbrill, Tito Munoz, David Briskin, Bill Linwood, Russell Hartenberger, David Kent and John Rudolph. Alex has performed with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, the Toronto Symphony Youth Orchestra, the Mississauga Symphony Orchestra, the Etobicoke Philharmonic, the Rose Orchestra, the York Symphony Orchestra and other local ensembles. At The Glenn Gould School he performs with the Royal Conservatory Orchestra, the Percussion Ensemble and the New Music Ensemble.
Alex holds a Bachelor of Music in Performance and an Advanced Certificate in Performance from the University of Toronto where he studied with Russell Hartenberger, John Rudolph and Beverley Johnston. He is currently pursuing an Artist Diploma at The Glenn Gould School of The Royal Conservatory of Music studying with David Kent and John Rudolph.
Alex is the recipient of various scholarships including The Hazel Workman Kettley Scholarship, The William Henry Craig Armstrong Memorial Scholarship, The Sabian / PASIC Scholarship, and scholarships from the Pacific Regional International Summer Music Academy.
