Vanessa Hellinga, viola

hellinga_vanessa_photoVanessa Hellinga began studying viola through a school string program when she was 12. She holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of British Columbia, a Master of Music degree from the University of Ottawa and a Graduate Performance Diploma from the Boston Conservatory. Her principal teachers have included David Harding, Rennie Regehr, and Lila Brown. She has played in masterclasses for renowned violists such as Tabea Zimmerman, Heidi Castleman, and Kim Kashkashian. Vanessa has also been a part of the National Academy Orchestra for the past three years and has also spent summers at the Casalmaggiore Music Festival in Italy, Banff Summer Arts Festival, and with the l’Orchestre de la francophonie canadienne. She now resides in Toronto and enjoys teaching, participating with a number of local orchestras, and collaborating with friends on various chamber music endeavors.
